Scan a drive
A scan only reads. It never deletes, moves or changes a single file, so you can run it as often as you like.
- Open Dashboard and pick a drive at the top of the window.
- Press Scan and let it work.
- Read the result — then use one of the views on the next page to find the space.
Three depths

| Quick | The usual space hogs — caches, temporary files, downloads | Fastest |
| Standard | The whole drive at normal depth. The everyday choice | Balanced |
| Deep | Walks everything, including deeply nested folders | Slowest |
How long it takes
The first scan of a full drive takes a few minutes; later ones are quicker. An external or network drive is always slower than the drive inside your computer. You can keep using DriveXos while a scan runs.
Nothing is ever removed because a scan found it. Deleting is a separate step that you start, review and confirm.
